0009353: csv file writes incorrect data from spreadsheet when only showing selections
I believe that the csv file writer should only show the spreadsheet data that is visible when we have "Show only selected elements" checked.
* ParaView XP, local server, 3.6.0.
* Open Can. All variables on. Apply.
* Select a cell.
* Split vertical. Spreadsheet.
* Display tab, select "Show only selected elements". Be sure that the spreadsheet is highlighted.
* File/ Save Data. Save as a .csv file.
<<Bug>> - all of the points or cells will be written out. Only the ones that you have selected should be.

This is not a bug. The Save Data command will save an entire data set in whatever format you pick (such as csv). I don't think culling the output for Save Data is quite the right thing.

You are really looking for Export (also under the File menu). The Export command exports what you are seeing in the current view in a format specific for that view (csv for spreadsheets). If you are showing only the selected elements in the view, then only those will be saved in the csv file.

Is that an unclear user interface? Perhaps, but that is a separate issue that not working (and should be addressed in a different bug). We could also use suggestions on how to make it more clear on the different modes of saving data.

I agree - this is not a bug.
