| Description | Right now the volume rendering capability could use improvements in useability. (i.e. turning on 'Enable sorted compositing') is not intuitive. Also in 2.4 there appears to be a slowdown of the compositing when 'sorted' is on. I would like to see this investigated just a bit. (if fixed in trunk nvm...) | ||||||||

The transfer function editor gets 'bonkers' if you paint on a scalar field with no variance (like everything is 1.0). If you switch to a scalar field that does have a range the editor is still dorked. |

I replaced "Enable sorted compositing" with "Disable sorted compositing" :-) Unless "Disable sorted compositing" is on, paraview will make the decision to use sorting or not based on whether anything is volume rendered or is transparent. If "Disable sorted compositing" is on, sorting is bypassed. |

The transfer function widget bug when scalar field has no variance seems to have been fixed already. |

I think the "slowdown" is simply because the color blending operation in the compositing takes longer than the z-buffer operation (4 char multiplication + addition operations vs 1 comparison operation). |
