Adding the LSDyna reader may open up a new user group for ParaView. We are AOK on the file description so we are ready to go. Gary Templet will organize the addition of this reader, so please contact him when you get to this feature request. I've reassigned to Berk with the intention that someone at Kitware work with Gary on the addition of the reader.

David Thompson (I believe) now has responsibility for this feature request. This reader will be added for the 2.6 release.

We (www.vpac.org) have written a d3plot reader using the standard defined at http://www.dynamore.de/download/manual/ls-dyna_database_2002.pdf. [^] I can speak to my employers about releasing the code. It's not a complete implementation, but it handles most common cases, and includes a secondary filter to split the dataset by material id into a vtkMultiBlockDataSet. And also another filter to offset the geometry using the time history database.

We have an incomplete implementation as well that handles common (well, common for us) cases. We haven't implemented sph, rigid road surfaces, packed connectivity, and reading the crack database files as well as d3plot files. If these are things you need, please speak up now. I hope to commit the first version of our reader to the public ParaView/VTK repository near the end of August. If you feel your reader covers more territory or performs better, perhaps that would be the time to ask your employers about releasing the code... that should leave about a month before the ParaView 2.6 freeze.

Reader is now checked in. Testing will be added this weekend. While there are a few porting issues, anything beyond that should be a new bug.
