Summary | 0003480: SNL: Color Map Reset Range, and Information update wrong.
Description | When trying to set the color map, using "Reset Range", it doesn't use the data from an animation - unless the animation has been run. so, the Data Range (from the Information tab) is only accurate AFTER running an animation. Also, the Information tab is STILL wrong, unless you force it to reset. Here are the notes that I took for replicating on a dataset that we have in house. Sandia may be able to release it. Two issues: * Information tab isn't updated with correct Data Range information correctly. * Reset range is inconsistent, and uses data from whatever animation frames that it has seen. This is wrong. This bug is replicated as follows: * Start ParaView. Open data file file.exo. * Select Element Variable ENERGY. Accept. * Information tab - ENERGY - 0.0 - 0.0 * Display/Color/Color by: Cell ENERGY. * Select the Scalar Bar. * Reset Range. * Click "Go to the next frame" ONCE. We now change from Blue to Red. * Reset Range. * Animation/Go to start of animation. Then, single step through all of the animation. The vast majority of the animation is red. * Reset Range. * Animation/Go to start of animation. Then, single step through all of the animation. This is what the animation should look like. * Notice Energy range from scalar bar. * Go to Information. Energy is wrong. * Open Data file file.exo again. Accept. * Highlight first data file in the selection window. Information. Data Arrays/ENERGY has changed, and may actually be correct.

Getting ranges of data across time is not supported well in paraview 2. I am putting this off until we have better time support in paraview 3. |

We already have plans to update the way ranges are computed. I am closing this old bug. |
