Summary0004180: Save plot data
DescriptionThere should be the ability to save the data in a plot so that it can be loaded back into ParaView at a later time or loaded into another software package. csv is probably a good format to start with, but more may be added later.

Should it possible to load CSV data? Plots can be saved/loaded as rectilinear grids. Is "Export to CSV" sufficient?

Yes, it should definitely be possible to load CVS data. Would it be possible (and make sense) to add CVS as one of the possible formats when writing out with "Save Data"?

I think it should be fine to add CSV as possible data format when saving data with "Save Data" noting that CSV option will only be shown for rectilinear grids/tables etc.

CSV files can now be loaded as well. Is CSV was saved from ParaView, it adds special headers which make it possible to recover the rectilinear grid from the CSV. If absence of such headers, all columns in the CSV are added as cell data for the 1D rectilinear grid.

I can't figure out how to save CSV data. I create a plot with the Histogram filter, and then select Save Data from the File menu. CSV is not one of the file formats available. Likewise for the Probe2 filter.

This may be a cmake build dependency issue. Try this:
Qt/Components/pqExtraResources.qrc and Qt/Components/qrc_pqExtraResources.cxx files from your binary directory. Reconfigure and rebuild. Does that help?

Oh, btw, CSV can't be saved for Probes since the vtkPProbeFilter produces polydata instead of rectilinear grid. The display for the probe filter has a pre-processor which converts that polyline to rectilinear grid. Buy, we'll have to change the probe to produce rectilinear grids instead.

You were right about the build dependency. I fixed that and can now save a CSV file, and the output looks reasonable. However, when I try to load the file again, I get garbage. I have tried it on Windows, Mac, and Linux, the latter having been completely rebuilt last night.

I've fixed the issue. The CSVReader was not providing any extents in RequestInformation. I wonder why it was working fine when I was developing it. Anyways, it should be fixed now.
