Nor will it open any file with "Collection" in its name in ParaView2/Data/Iron XDMF/ directory.

If you build ParaView with MPI and use the builtin connection, one cannot open *any* Xdmf file.

Problem is in Utilities/Xdmf/libsrc/XdmfHDF.cxx
line 664. It assumes MPI has been initialized.
I can also put SERIAL in my xmf file to make it read without MPI.

Clint,

Utkarsh and I cannot reproduce this. He tried on Linux, I tried on Mac. It works fine. Can you provide more information? Did you build your own hdf5 by any chance?

Do you have HDF5_ENABLE_PARALLEL on?

Yes, HDF5_ENABLE_PARALLEL is on.
I can try it with a clean build sometime.

Ok, I turned HDF5_ENABLE_PARALLEL off and it works fine.
