The main particle tracer stuff in (off the shelf) ParaView should work fine. With pv-meshless you get the particle renderer for spheres and a particle writer which dumps particles to disk during the particle tracer run. This lets you generate animations from different viewpoints etc once you're happy with the seeding.
The particle tracer itself is being rewritten at the moment and I tend to use pv-meshless as my working branch, so trying paraview might be 'safer' for the time being. You may want to try ParaView Meshless

version of ParaView with the cutting edge of John Biddiscombe's
particle tracking work in it. Some of those features will be/have been
integrated into the main paraview code, but I can not vouch for when
that will happen.
