Hi Richard,

This point has been discussed in the paraview mailing list: find the message with subject "[Paraview] Mesh edition / modification with paraview".

I would like to add that VTK way of processing (pipelining) makes difficult the editing process. However, it would be great to have such tool to edit mesh according to volume slice images. You mentionned Blender: this is a very good mesh editing software. I imagined, but have no time to code, a plug-in for blender that allows a volume data to be loaded. Since there exists a vtk/blender python script, it could be a solution...

Best regards,

Jerome

2009/3/27 Richard Beare <richard.beare@gmail.com>

Hi,

I was wondering whether there are any options that allow some
interactive editing of mesh objects in paraview? Is this a capability
that can be included in the existing pipeline structure or is it
completely outside the design. My reason for thinking about paraview
for this application is that the meshes represent objects in 3D
images, and seeing the image while editing the mesh helps a lot.
Paraview can display a mesh and the image together, which seems like
a reasonable starting point. Any other suggestions? So far the tools
with the right mesh manipulation facilities seem to be animation based
(blender) or CAD oriented (meshlab).

Thanks
