<div>So now I assume that the field is some volume of data in which the surface is embedded. (I can't think of another situation that makes sense.) In that case, try the "Resample With Dataset" filter. Set the scalar field as "Input" and the surface geometry

Hi Ken,
<div><br>
</div>
<div>thanks for your answer. You are right, I would like to color a geometry by a scalar field. The problem I have is, that I have the geometry and the scalar field separately (<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 12px; "><a href="http://cl.ly/2q1o0n252V3r2I3k2y2o">http://cl.ly/2q1o0n252V3r2I3k2y2o</a></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 12px; ">) </span>and
don't know how to combine those two. I tried to use "Append Attributes Filter" but did not succeed.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Any Idea is appreciated.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Thanks,</div>

<div>Do you mean color a surface by a scalar field? (The example you give does not have contours as far as I can see.) If so, simply select the field in the color by combo box (second toolbar, leftmost combo box).</div>

Dear users,<br>
<br>
I'd like to map the contour of a scalar filed to a geometry, but couldn't figure out how to do this in paraview.<br>
<br>
I have a structured grid of scalars and a geometry (e.g. stl) and like to achieve a visualization like the one shown here: <a href="http://cl.ly/1J2t0v3v0J3q3b0T052F">http://cl.ly/1J2t0v3v0J3q3b0T052F</a><br>
<br>
Can anyone point me to the right direction?<br>
<br>
Thanks in advance,<br>
<br>
Jan</div>
