I can make it happen with or without the auto update enabled,
although it's a bit flakey. See if you can reproduce it this way:

start pv, create wavelet, surface rep, color by RTData
open colormap editor, open preset color scales and without closing
it, first choose "rainbow desaturated" then switch to
"erdc_rainbow_bright".

at this point the UI for interacting with the LUT gets messed up
and when I close the preset color scales dialog and click set range
I see -1 to 1, rather than the RTData min/max. After that I have to
click rescale to data range to get it back to where it should be.

Burlen, I am not sure I can reproduce this. Are you just missing
clicking the "Update" button after changing the range? Note there's an
"auto-update" button too, which is not pressed by default.

Hi Utkarsh,
I used it the other day when updating the projected tetrahedra ctest. This
is a big improvement,I love it!
I noticed that the ranges are lost when changing LUT's. For example create a
wavelet source and change the LUT (I used Rainbow Desaturated). If I open
the "rescale to custom range" dialog, range show -1 to 1. I have to hit
"rescale to data range" button to get it to update. Custom ranges are also
lost during LUT changes, those are more annoying.

Folks,
I just posted an introductory blog post on using the new color map
editor panel in the upcoming ParaView 4.1. Give it a read if you have
any questions about this panel. The post just covers the basics. I
plan on a couple more to cover annotations and categorical colors in
the near future. Any feedback to improve the
post/documentation/functionality is, as always, welcome.
