Qt 4.2
Qt 4.2.2 is supposed to be release by the end of this month. This release should fix several problems that we have been having with the previous releases of Qt 4.2. Clint Stimpson says it should now be fairly painless to use Qt 4.2.
The plan is to keep Qt 4.1 until the December branch. After that, Clint will check in some necessary changes to ParaView to use Qt 4.2, announce the checkin, and then do it. We will also bleed a little bit and have bad dashboards for a couple days and then have everything fixed.
Icons
After looking at the icons, we all agreed that we liked the light gray background the best. There was some argument about whether we should support one color scheme or follow color schemes on different platforms. For now, since most color schemes follow near a light grey, we can just design the icons toward a light grey and try applying them elsewhere. We can also give the icon designers the different color schemes to try the icons there as well. We are most interested in the default color themes for Windows XP, Max OS X, and the Qt cleanlooks.
As far as perspective, we would like a slight perspective on icons that are <math>22^2</math> or bigger. Do straight on for any icon smaller. If they do shadows, they should be done with an alpha channel for appropriate blending on different colors. We also like to have a thin (one-pixel width) border to highlight feature. The best example of this was in the bottom image for the icon that was third from the left (but the outline could stand to be thinner and darker). We are still kibizing over the shading. I think we want something subtle. Perhaps we could get an example of an icon with a constant size, background, and perspective with several different shading options so that we can choose what we like best.
Summit
Ken needs to get everyone to bring ParaView 3.0 requirements to the summit. We will be generating a more strict list of deliverable.
