[Paraview] Undefined variables in Ensight Gold Format

Hello

Can Paraview handle the 'undef' keyword in Ensight Gold variable files? I read 
(http://public.kitware.com/pipermail/paraview/2004-April/000623.html) that it 
could not, but that was in 2004, and the file VTK/IO/vtkEnSightGoldReader.cxx 
looks like this feature had been added.
On the other hand I never managed to successfully read undefined variables 
with Paraview.
