Hi Alan,
They way that this works is when enabled at each "apply" PV will write a state file in the working directory. If PV closes normally the files is removed. During the start up process it will look for this file in the working directory and if found prompt you to recover. The recovery file should be cleaned up either way so you only have one chance to recover.
