Description | ParaView 3.2.1, XP * can.exo. * Select Cells THROUGH (Not ON - On works) on the back of the can. * Filters/ Data Analysis/ Extract Selection * Copy Active Selection - Apply. * Animate. Notice that the cells will disappear. Ken - think this is a Priority of High? I wanted medium-high. | ||||||||

If you move the can around, you will also see that the selected cells lines will jump and appear/disappear. |

This is not a bug. A select cells through defines a region in 3D space. If you are using this selection type for a Lagrangian type of simulation where cells move and deform (as can is), then cells will inevitably move in and out of this region. The same thing would happen if you were extracting cells by clipping regions. To get the behavior you want, go to the selection inspector and change the selection type from Frustum to IDs. Copy your converted selection to the extract selection filter, and you should have the behavior you desire. I admit that this behavior will be counterintuitive for many users. However, it's not a good idea to automatically convert to id-type selections for memory constraints. It may be reasonable to make the process easier: for example adding the ability to convert from frustum to id selection in the object inspector of the extract selection filter. If you want something like that, submit a new issue with that feature request. |
