Summary0008553: PlotOverLine filter does not update to new time step if not visible in selected view
DescriptionWhen plot over line filter is used with a multi time step pvd data source it does not update consistently.
I have attached a test case.
-Load the state file
- Two filters are loaded, plotoverline and probe location
- highlight the ProbeLocation filter in the pipeline view and the top view pane on the right.
- increment the time step using the Time input at the middle of the top Paraview line.
- compare the information panes in the pipeline view for the two filters.
- the Probe Filter updates to the proper time value, but the plot over line filter does not!
- It *seems* that this only happens when the plotoverline filter is not shown in the active view.

This is severe because I made a series of line plots by dumping data from a PlotOverLine filter
on a large data set. I did not see that the PlotOverLine filter had not updated to the time step I had chosen in the data set. Because of this I made a series of plots from the wrong time step.
Ouch... Colleagues madd at me and all the usually teeth nashing..

Thanks for all the great work and I would be glad to provide more information if needed.

Dan

One more note.
I tested this more. A major concern is that I added a plot over line filter and then
selected the correct time step. I then verified that on the information pane for the plotoverline
filter the time value was correct. Then I saved the data in csv format from the plotoverline filter.
The data saved is from the first time step in the pvd file not the one I carefully selected!!!

So for now the only way I see to get the correct data is to manually open only the single time step file (vtp file in this case)
and then use the plotoverline filter to get the right data on a line...

Thanks for all the great work

Where is the state file? There is nothing attached to this bug right now.

Dan,
Could you please add the state file to this bug report?

Thanks
