Animation Dialogue

This page captures discussion on the animation dialog box, which appears after the user selects 'File->Save Animation'. This is a proposed re-design of the current UI.

• Animation
  • Duration. Defaults to 10 sec. the first time a user uses it, then defaults to the previous animation duration. This is a setting that is saved across sessions.
  • Two grouped radio buttons, with the 'Evenly spaced' option selected by default.
• Output. These options are defaulted to the current application settings (see each one below) This will interact with the view's aspect ratio lock, when this is implemented (more on this later)
  • Aspect Ratio. List of common aspect ratios, including:
    • Custom (the default)
    • Video
    • HD (1280x720)
    • HD (1920x1080)
    • There are others, but do we need them?
  • Resolution. obeys the 'Aspect Ratio' combo. If 'Custom' is selected, it is initially set to the current size of the selected render window, and both boxes can be edited. If any other option is selected in 'Aspect Ratio', these options are not editable, but they display the proper setting.
  • Frame rate. Follows 'Aspect Ratio' setting. If 'Custom' is selected, defaults to 30 fps, and can be edited by the user.
• Output file.
  • Format. Combo list of supported output formats. Defaults to MPEG. Can show additional settings for each format, if the user requests it.
