Deliverables February Post Mortem

Plotting (Ayachit)

Uh, yeah. The only remaining things are updating the lookup table for the histogram. Updated an issue with the CSV reader. We are good with everything else except for the stuff we are not doing right now.

Color map (Richardson)

Did not get the new OpenGL transfer function editor. At the last minute put back the old Qt based editor. Can now add points in the middle.

By late last week, Amy could get it to show the transfer function editor and move things around. There is a bit of a disconnect to get the tie-ins to get everything working.

Multiple outputs (Geveci)

Berk came up with a design and is about to add a page on it to the Wiki. He has had higher priorities for doing it. We are going to punt and not implement this in ParaView 3.0. Instead it will be in 3.2.

Selection (DeMarle)

Had about 80% of the selection features. Did not get integration into the UI. For example, in the histogram there is no way to select a threshold. Also cannot commit a selection to apply further filters.

Right now working on bugs. Next is to show selections in the pipeline browser so that you can use them as any other source.

Plugins (Stimpson/Cedilnik)

Got all the stuff done that was on the requirements page. Clint is going to put a page on the public ParaView Wiki that describes how to make a plugin.

Lookmarks (Stanton)

About to check in a bunch of changes that separates the general lookmark manager model that other lookmarks managers can sit on. There is now a pqFlatTree widget that shows the pipeline captured by the lookmark.

Pretty much all the functionality is there. Now just working on bugs with state loading.

Documentation

Amy has been working on moving help from GUI based XML to ServerManager XML. Been working on a small app that goes through the XML and spit out HTML files. It can print out what properties are available and other information about proxies.

Icons

It has been about 3 weeks since Berk sent the third batch of icons. They should send some results by Friday.

Mpeg-2 Licensing

Berk wants to abandon mpeg-2 altogether because the licensing is too much of an issue.

Lookmark toolbar

Suggestions were

  • Default large icons in the toolbar, but have an option to change the size (dropdown menu of 4 sizes).
  • The lookmark toolbar should be hidden by default, but shown if a lookmark is added (perhaps only if it is the first lookmark).
  • The toolbar on the side looked better than those on the top.
