MARS Issues and V&V Milestone
Last Week:
Lisa can now input geometry into Cubit, but cannot mesh it.
The fragment extractor is working. More work has been done to the fragment extractor to make it more user friendly and feature rich.
This Week:
Status: we were making great progress because the patch got data into Cubit (although it still cannot be meshed). We are still not sure why the data cannot be meshed. Lisa sent Berk an example in an email.
After this patch a new bug was introduced that is now causing crashes. The previous version of the fragment identification filter is working. There is a bug report for the crash.
Plot over time filter names
The names for the plot over time are confusing.
- Extract Selection over Time
- If someone wants to plot data over time, they are not going to be looking for an "extract" filter. In fact, it's not even extracting the selection, it's just getting the data on the selection. Could we call this something like Plot Selection over Time?
- Plot Field Variable over Time
- This name is confusing because point and cell data are also often called field data. Unless you are thinking of the VTK data object nomenclature (which isn't great), the filter will not do what you expect.
Changes: Extract... to Plot Selection Over Time. Plot Field... to Plot Global Variable Over Time (go ahead and make it Exodus specific since that is currently the only use case).
